Our Story
Jack Reads began with a simple idea: every student deserves the chance to share their story.
On August 12h, 2025, Jack Hamsher (otherwise known as "Jack Zhao") uploaded a video where he offered high school seniors the opportunity to have their college application essays proofread. In the video, Jack explained how students were able to submit their essays to him via Google Form. Gaining moderate success, the video has since surpassed 25k views.
On August 13th 2025, Jack received a message from George informing him that his link was not working. Realizing that he needed to upscale, Jack broke the news of his plans to begin a nonprofit organization on August 16th, 2025.
Shortly after posting the video, George reached out to Jack, offering to help design and structure the website for free of charge. Hearing his offer, Jack quickly accepted as George and he set out to expand on Jack Reads. Jack and George have been collaborating together ever since.
